Welcome to the Toddler 1 Room!

The Toddler 1 Room is for children ages 12 months to 18-24 months.

The Toddler 1 Program is based on each child's developmental characteristics and needs. In the Toddler 1 room, your child's emerging sense of individuality is fostered in an environment that combines safety, health, security, acceptance, and fun.

The Toddler 1 program provides for the whole child’s social, physical, intellectual, and emotional development. It focuses on your child’s natural learning style and provides varied, challenging, and interesting activities.

Weekly movement classes by Power Tots are also offered as an optional opportunity.

Daily Activities

Art

The children will have an opportunity to experience various forms of art daily, including (but not limited to) finger painting, brush painting, and coloring with crayons.

Montessori

During Montessori Time, your toddler can use different, child-appropriate materials and lessons: scooping with balls and spoons, pegboards, blocks, puzzles, pouring, and sorting toys. Art projects and Montessori time assist in the development of cognitive, language, and fine motor skills. We also teach the children important life skills in caring for the materials, including storing them after they finish the work.

Circle Time

We have several group gathering times each day. During these circle times, we talk about the weather, sing songs, learn poems, read books, count, and role-play. These times are designed to lengthen your toddler's attention span and teach new concepts.

Free Play

Children are allowed to choose their "work" (a Montessori term). We use free play to introduce the equipment to new children in our classroom. They are taught how to use the material and return it to the shelf.

Toddler 1 Teachers

Let’s get started!

Every effort is made to make transitions as smooth as possible. As your child's transition date approaches, you can help by planning extra time to visit together and get acquainted with the environment.

Please make sure all clothing fits and is appropriate for the weather. Please refrain from bringing in clothing or other items that you would not want to get stained or lost.

Also, note that Small Savers is a peanut-free Center, so please refrain from bringing any nut products into the center or any of its classrooms.

The bottles are cleaned each day. Bottles we fill with Whole or 1% Organic Milk may be kept here.
